Workshops. June 29-30, 2023

Registration period:  April 6 til May 20, 2023 (upon availabilities)

Finally back this year, the Chants de Vielles workshops and master classes offer a specialized teaching program offered by artists recognized as masters in their field and aimed at singers and musicians of beginner, intermediate or advanced levels (depending on the group).

Registration: validated by returning the registration form with payment (limited places). 

Musical equipment: When provided for in the program, the teaching material will be emailed after receipt of registration and payment.

LOCATIONS: Each class has a designated place in the village of Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu. Details will be provided to participants.

SCHEDULE:  All adult classes are for two days:

Thursday, June 29, 2023
9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.: Welcome of the interns
10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Class
12 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Lunch
2 to 5 p.m.: Class
6 p.m.: Welcome dinner with free singing and music sessions
8:00 to 9:00 p.m.: Gilles Garand show – Le Parcours d’un passeur, Yves Steinmetz stage

Friday, June 30, 2023
9:00 am to 10:00 am: Lunch
10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Class
12:00 to 2:00 p.m.: Lunch
2 to 5 p.m.: Class
From 5 p.m.: Opening of the Chants de Vielles festival (passport required)

1. Music camp for children (6 to 12 years old) : Discovery workshops on traditional Quebec music

2. Vocal technique and traditional repertoire with Gabrielle Bouthillier

3. Elementary Hurdy-gurdy: technique and style with Alison Gowan

4. Hurdy-gurdy – Advanced with Benjamin Meunier

5. Bagpipes – 16 and 20 inches with Rémy Villeneuve

6. Chromatic and diatonic accordion with Fabien Villeneuve

7. Ensemble music – Breton music with Régis Huiban and Gilles Le Bigot (SKOLVAN)

 

In addition to the basic program, students will have the opportunity to participate in optional public activities at the festival. All details of these activities will be provided on site.
