Capucine et Martin

Martin Aucoin:
Born in New Brunswick into a family of musicians, Martin Aucoin has been playing the violin by ear since his teenage years, drawing inspiration from tradition bearers rooted in the Canadian French culture of the Maritime provinces. Now residing in Lévis, Quebec, Martin is deeply involved in the traditional music scene as an administrator and project manager for Maréemusique, an organization dedicated to promoting traditional music. Passionate about sharing his craft, he has been teaching since 2012 and delights in transmitting his repertoire to anyone willing to listen.
Martin has performed at concerts and dances across five Canadian provinces, the United States, and Europe alongside accomplished musicians. His authentic repertoire and natural style will touch your heart and set your feet tapping. Whether on stage or teaching, Martin’s dedication to preserving and sharing traditional music is evident in every note he plays.

Marie-Capucine Maldague-Mathieu:
Capucine began her career in 1998 as a classical violin teacher. After completing her studies at Université Laval, she performed extensively in Quebec and New Brunswick with ensembles such as Le Chœur des Hivers and Université Laval’s Baroque Music Workshop, while also freelancing for various events. Over the past 12 years, she has transitioned professionally into traditional music, excelling as a fiddler, singer, dance caller, and composer.
Since 2018, Capucine has co-founded and organized La Veillée de Lévis, a popular traditional dance event. She is frequently invited as a caller and trainer at numerous gatherings across Quebec, including EsTrad Festival, Kaleidoscope Festival, and Carnaval de Québec. She regularly collaborates with La Famille Aucoin and engages in school workshops with the duo Capucine et Martin. Recognized in the traditional music community, Capucine has contributed to audio-visual productions such as a La Fabrique culturelle and videos for Organise le meilleur party! KARAOKÉ DANSE TRAD.
Dedicated to passing on her passion for music to younger generations, Capucine actively initiates projects that unite youth through music and joy. Her vibrant energy and commitment make her an influential figure in the world of traditional music.
