À qui s’adresse ce stage :

Chanteurs/chanteuses traditionnels niveau débutant/intermédiaire

Description :

  • 200,00$ : Forfait stage 2 jours
  • 270,00$ : Forfait stage 2 jours et repas (souper jeudi, 1 déjeuner et 2 dîners)

Vocal technique and traditional repertoire with Gabrielle Bouthillier

Who is this workshop for?

Traditional singers at the beginner/intermediate level

Description:

In a small group, we will approach, from the repertoire that the trainees practice, the voice as a gesture, we will (re)discover the timbre, the posture, the breathing. The objective is to be as happy as possible when singing, to eliminate all discomfort and unnecessary effort, to make the body aware of its role as an instrument. Gabrielle will also propose to take the risk of discovering things that are still unknown, to get off the beaten track, to invent new ways of being to oneself and of being in the world by approaching polyphonic singing.

Presentation of the teacher:

Gabrielle Bouthillier is a performing artist, singer and musician, as well as a researcher and transmitter of sung heritage. A member of several ensembles, including the Orchestre d’hommes-orchestres, Strada, Serre l’Écoute, Rond-la-Boule, the Duo Elmaleh-Bouthillier and the New Cackle Sisters, she also coordinates and leads the Atelier de chant traditionnel de Québec and the Atelier d’harmonies de Québec. The artistic projects that she sets up or in which she participates, nourished by an obvious ethnographic sensitivity, often become sites for the enhancement of sung or musical heritage: repertory of French oral tradition, American or European folklore, etc. By bringing these ancient popular repertoires to the stage, she contributes to putting the audience in direct contact with musical material that is otherwise only accessible through recordings. Off stage, she seeks to reinvent the spaces and strategies of transmission and reappropriation of oral traditions. By encouraging their active and collective practice, it is an unlikely but effective part of the chain of transmission of knowledge.
