Robert Deveaux of St-Joseph-du-Moine, Nova Scotia (60 nautical miles from the Magdalen Islands) is both a fiddler in the Cape Breton style and a passionate folklorist of traditional Acadian song.
In Cape Breton, he has fiddled with and/or accompanied on piano most of the style’s great stars, including Arthur Muise, Donny LeBlanc, Jerry Holland and others.
He has just added a new project to his discography with Montreal-area duo Boulerice-Demers: “Art Populaire”, an album of 11 old French songs dating back to the 18th century in a very traditional style, on period instruments.
