Registration opens for 2025 Chants de Vielles workshops & master classes program

6 Apr 2025

For the fourteenth year, Chants de Vielles is offering a specialized teaching program for singers and musicians at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels (depending on the group). Led by artists recognized as masters in their field, the programs will be presented in two phases. The first, on Thursday June 26 and Friday June 27, 2025, will be a pre-festival opportunity for trainees to learn in a small group, and the second, during the festival, will be a chance for trainees to put their learning into practice, notably through a public performance.

Here are this year’s workshops:
#1 ENSEMBLE MUSIC (all instruments) with Thomas Restoin
#2 HURDY GURDY (masterclass) with Guillaume Bouteloup
#3 CORNEMUSE with Cédric Bachelerie
#4 VIELLE À ROUE (beginners) with Alison Gowan
#5 SINGING with Charles Quimbert
#6 FIDDLE with Kate Bevan-Baker
#7 DANSES: Intensive introductory workshops in Western European dances with Philippe and Cédric from Balfolk Montréal
# 8 HAMMERED DULCIMER with Samantha Moffat
# 9 SINGING & TRADITIONAL MUSIC from Acadiana, southwest Louisiana
