Chants de Vielles à l’Année presents the COOLTRAD show on May 3, 2025

After being invited to the Claude Léveillée Hall at Place des Arts in Montreal last fall, as well as to the Bourgie Hall in the winter, Nicolas Boulerice (Patriot of the Year 2024 of the Société nationale des Québécois Richelieu-Saint-Laurent) is honoring us with the opportunity to present, in his village – and for the benefit of the Chants de Vielles organization – his new show CoolTrad, which he performs as a duo with double bassist Frédéric Samson.

Based on the repertoire of the album of the same title (nominee for the ADISQ 2024 and the Prix Opus 2025), CoolTrad is a song-based show where a certain form of slowness and melancholy meets the rhythm of words. and the jazzy swing of the double bass. It is also a constant dialogue between the traditional Quebec repertoire and an accompaniment stripped of the markers normally associated with the genre to create a new listening context. Inspired by cool jazz, the beat is calmer, emotion is ahead of frenzy, and stories are at the heart of the interpretation.
