Charles Quimbert

Finally back at Chants de Vielles after several years’ absence, Charles is a festival favorite, having been part of the singing workshop adventure since 2011! From Britanny ( France), he is known as a collector, singer and teacher of traditional songs. He has taken part in numerous groups (Brou Hamon Quimbert, duo Branthomme Quimbert, Les Six Troncs) with whom he has led festou-noz or concerts, both in Brittany and in many foreign countries, including Quebec, where he has visited several times. He currently performs in fest-noz with Roland Brou and plays a show, Le soñ de l’eau, produced with double bassist François Chapron. He was one of the first to study the specific vocal techniques used in traditional singing, and has been running workshops on this subject for almost thirty years.
