Germaine

Germaine is a music project that combines traditional Québec singing, gigue [step dancing], foot percussion, and fiddle. The band’s arrangements provide a new perspective on a feminist repertoire. Singers, dancers, and musicians Rachel Carignan, Catherine Landry, Marie-Laurence Lamothe-Hétu, Flo Mailhot-Léonard, Mélina Mauger-Lavigne and Patricia Ho-Yi Wang, join forces to give new voice to lyrics sung by women, while at the same time emphasizing the rhythmic aspects of traditional Québec song and dance.
