While on international tour with their new 20 Printemps show, Le Vent du Nord is doing us the favour of stopping again at Chants de Vielles this summer. Considered an incomparable French-speaking ambassador, Le Vent du Nord is a driving force behind the Québec progressive folk movement, as well as a flagship band in the revival of traditional Québec music.
Since its inception in 2002, it has enjoyed meteoric success that never ceases to amaze! It has performed over 2400 concerts on 4 continents and has released 12 albums. It has racked up several prestigious awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros, (France), two Juno awards [Canada’s Grammys], and three Félix from ADISQ (Québec). Now made up of singers and multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Boulerice, André Brunet, Réjean Brunet, Olivier Demers and André Gagné, the group interprets songs and tunes that recount the story of Québec, its history and its memories, as many territories to protect as to love. From unadorned a cappella singing to sophisticated arrangements, the journey through the group’s melodic universe is rich. A show always eagerly awaited at Chants de Vielles!
